One thing that usually sets us apart from our competition is that our owner personally manages each project from start to finish. Bringing a life-time of experience, he limits the number of ongoing projects to ensure timely completion, budget goals, with the highest level of craftsmanship.
Mr. Jacques stepped on his first project site over 25 years ago, while earning a B.S. in Engineering (Design). At a young age, he learned his craft first-hand in his grandfather’s shop. The carpentry man had a legendary reputation for his skilled craftsmanhip and passion, and felt it his obligation to train the next generation.
After a decade of supervising, as Project Manager & Regional Manager with large firms, Stephen founded Jacques Homes, Inc. and began building a quality custom home business. Stephen’s architectural, historic, engineering and estate project experience is extensive, with over 200 projects to his name. His education is comprehensive and includes degrees and coursework completed at Old Dominion, Georgetown & UVA. And 7 years working at UVA.
Over 12 years, we have completed homes in subdivisions such as: Wind River, Foxchase, Bentivar, West Leigh, Harmony, and throughout the charming Ivy area & Charlottesville countryside. Mr. Jacques spent many years hiring architects and engineers in his previous endeavors, discerning exceptional talent along the way. Even during economic fluctuations, we are pleased that most of these professionals remain part of our team.
With extensive experience traveling throughout Europe, Stephen brings an appreciation for the many architectural and design principles of the Old World and beyond. He has also held positions as: Construction Manager, Inspector, Engineer, & Superintendent.
VOLUNTEERS: Jacques Homes volunteered to manage the construction of a new Multi- Purpose Community Center in the City of Charlottesville, working trips to the Gulf Coast following Hurricane Katrina, and Habitat for Humanity. Mr. Jacques created and hosted a Cable TV show for 2 years for local student achivevements and hosted TV fundraisers for WVPT Public Television. We support The Resources for Inner City Childhood Development (RICH), St. Jude's Children's Hospital Golf Tournaments, Alzheimer's, International Relief organizations, and many other charities.
